1. Is the course material in English or Chinese?
We have programmes in English and in Cantonese. The language of the course material will be in accordance with the medium of instruction of the course, i.e. English course material for the English programme, Chinese course material for Cantonese programme.
2. Who will be the programme’s instructor(s)?
The programme will be led by Rooftop Republic staff and a leading organic farming instructor with over ten years of experience. Additionally, other guest speakers/instructors with particular areas of expertise (ie. hydroponics, composting or permaculture) will be brought in to contribute to specific sessions.
3. What kind of employment opportunities can trainees expect upon completion of the programme?
The programme is designed to increase employability for trainees so they can pursue opportunities in the following areas:
Local food production
Urban Farming Educational projects/activities
4. Can I work at other farms after graduation?
The vision of Rooftop Republic Academy is to professionalise the urban farming industry as a whole by nurturing and developing a new generation of urban farmers. We encourage our graduates to pursue opportunities in this industry whether with Rooftop Republic or other urban farming organisations.
5. Are there any beginner courses?
No previous experience is required to sign up for this vocational training programme. That said, if you would like to have a taste of urban farming before joining this programme, you are welcome to check one of our other one-off workshops and events. Sign up for our mailing list on the Homepage of our website and stay tuned for some experiential and fun activities!
6. Are there any prerequisites for applying the Academy?
The course has no specific prerequisites.
7. Will there be any make-up lessons?
Students are expected to attend every lesson to complete the programme. No make-up lessons will be provided.
8. Will I get a certificate after the course?
Yes, upon a minimum attendance of 90% and passing of the final examination.
