Moderate amount of water

Basil likes evenly moist soil

 

You can choose to plant in containers and it's great to grow on the kitchen windowsill (especially in cool climates)

Transplant 1 seedling per 6 inches pot or 3 seedlings per 12 inches pot

The seedlings spaced about 16-24 inches apart

Italian basil is native to tropical Asia, not Italy
Try to water basils from the side, Italian basils prefer to have dry leaves and stem
If you see any flower budding, remove it right away
Prune the Italian basils regularly to continue to produce nice tasting leaves
